1. Dr. Rajendra Prasad (1950-1962)

6. Neelam Sanjiva Reddy (1977-1982)

7. Giani Zail Singh (1982-1987)

Acting Presidents of India

Eligibility Criteria to Become the President of India

To contest for the post of President in India, a candidate must fulfill the following constitutional conditions:

  • Must be a citizen of India.
  • Must have completed 35 years of age.
  • Must be qualified to be elected as a member of the Lok Sabha.
  • Must not hold any office of profit under the Government of India, any state government, or any local/public authority.
  • The nomination must be endorsed by at least 50 proposers and 50 seconders who are members of the Electoral College.
