Chhattisgarh, located in Central India, covers an area of approximately 135,192 sq km. The state officially became an individual state on November 1, 2000, after being separated from Madhya Pradesh. There are 33 Districts in Chhattisgarh. Initially, the state had only 16 districts at the time of its formation. Over the years, several new districts were created by reorganizing the existing ones to improve administration and governance. The most recent addition is Khairagarh-Chhuikhadan-Gandai, which was officially declared a district in 2022.

There are a total of 33 Districts of Chhattisgarh, each administered by a District Magistrate, who is responsible for the overall implementation of government policies at the district level. There are 5 administrative divisions in Chhattisgarh, which showcase a rich and diversified landscape. Some, like Surguja and Bastar, have thick forests and hills. Districts like Raipur and Bilaspur are on flat land and are appropriate for farming. Others like Dantewada and Kanker gave a rich tribal culture.

List of Districts of Chhattisgarh
At the time of its formation on November 1, 2000, Chhattisgarh consisted of only 16 districts. On May 11, 2007, the state expanded, and two new districts were added, Bijapur and Narayanpur. In September 2022, five new districts were formed they were Manpur-Mohla, Sarangarh-Bilaigarh, Manendragarh, and Sakti. The most recently added ones are Khairagarh-Chhuikhadan-Gandai.

Largest District of Chhattisgarh
Surguja is the Largest District of Chhattisgarh in terms of area, spreading over 5,732 sq km with Ambikapur as its headquarters. It is one of the oldest Districts of Chhattisgarh, known for its rich history and cultural heritage. It lies to the east of the Vindhyachal-Baghelkhand region and is part of the Surguja dialect area.
Smallest District of Chhattisgarh
Gaurela-Pendra-Marwahi district is the Smallest District of Chhattisgarh, which came into existence on 10th February 2020, with Gaurela as its headquarters. It was carved out of the Bilaspur district.
