The state of Chhattisgarh was formed out of Madhya Pradesh on 1st November, 2000. The First Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh was Ajit Jogi, he represented the Indian National Congress Party from the year 2000 to 2003. The Longest-Serving Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh is Raman Singh, who represented the Bharatiya Janata Party for 15 consecutive years. As of April 2025, the Current Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh is Vishnu Deo Sai of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). He was sworn in on 13th December 2023, after BJP won the state assembly elections.

First Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh
After the separation of Chhattisgarh from the state of Madhya Pradesh on 1st November, 2000, Ajit Jogi became the First Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh, representing the Indian National Congress from November 2000 to December 2003. He was a bureaucrat-turned-politician, well known for his administrative skills and intellectual governance. Even after his tenure Ajit Jyoji, remains to be an important figure in Chhattisgarh politics.

The Current Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh is Vishnu Deo Sai, representing the Bharatiya Janata Party. He took office on 13th December 2023, following BJP’s victory in the state assembly elections. He is the fourth Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh. A veteran politician and former Union Minister, Vishnu Deo Sai comes from a tribal background and puts great emphasis on the welfare of the tribes.

The Longest-Serving Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh is Raman Singh, who represented the Bharatiya Janata Party for 15 consecutive years from December 7, 2003 to December 17, 2018. He was the Second Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh taking office after Ajit Jyogi. Having completed his tenure in 2018, Raman Singh did not leave politics, he has continued to be an effective force in Bharatiya Janata Party, advising the party on strategies and campaigns in Chhattisgarh as well as at the national level.
