The Chief Minister of Sikkim is the head of the state government, who is appointed by the governor entitled to the position for a tenure of 5 years. The Current Chief Minister of Bihar is Prem Singh Tamang, serving since 27 May 2019, better known as P.S. Golay, from Sikkim Krantikari Morcha, who founded this party in the year 2019. The State of Sikkim officially became the 22nd state of India on 16 May 1975, following the merger of the former Kingdom of Sikkim with India. Before this, Sikkim was a monarchy under the Chogyal dynasty.

Current Chief Minister of Sikkim

Prem Singh Tamang, widely known as P.S Golay, has been serving as the Current Chief Minister of Sikkim since May 28, 2019, representing the Sikkim Krantikari Morcha party. Kazi Lhendup Dorjee was the First Chief Minister of Sikkim to have served from 1975-79 after the merger of Sikkim with India in the year 1975, representing the Tashiding constituency. He was also the First Prime Minister of Sikkim from 1974 to 1975. He founded the Sikkim National Congress, which was instrumental in the movement for Sikkim’s merger with India. His leadership laid the foundation for Sikkim’s political and administrative framework as India’s 22nd state.

Longest-Serving Chief Minister of Sikkim

Pawan Kumar Chamling is the longest-serving Chief Minister of any State in India. He served as the Chief Minister of Sikkim between 1994 and 2019 for a tenure of 24 years 165 years. He represented the Sikkim Democratic Front party.
