Current Chief Minister of Jharkhand
Hemant Soren is serving as the Current Chief Minister of Jharkhand. He has held the position for three terms. His first term spanned from July 13, 2013, to December 28, 2014. He was re-elected for a second term from December 29, 2019, to January 31, 2024, during which he prioritized tribal welfare, educational reforms, employment generation, and sustainable development. After a brief interim period when Champai Soren held office, Hemant Soren was sworn in for his third term on July 4, 2024, continuing his focus on inclusive governance and social equity.
Longest-Serving Chief Minister of Jharkhand
Raghubar Das is the Longest-Serving Chief Minister of Jharkhand, representing the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). He made history by becoming the first and only CM of the state to complete a full five-year term (2014–2019) without resigning or being removed from office. His tenure brought political stability to a state often marked by short-lived governments and frequent imposition of President’s Rule. However, despite his complete term, he was defeated in the 2019 state elections by Hemant Soren of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM).
